Abstract
Este documento registra la importancia y distribución de las principales enfermedades que afectan las hortalizas
de la familia de las solanáceas, la cual comprende especies cultivadas de importancia económica en Colombia,
como tomate (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.), pimentón, ají jalapeño, ají páprika, ají cayenne (Capsicum
annuum L.), ají rocoto (Capsicum pubescens Raiz & Pavon), ají pajarito (Capsicum frutescens L.), ají habanero
(Capsicum chinense Hunziker) y berenjena (Solanum melongena L.). Así mismo, se describen las condiciones
favorables para el desarrollo de las enfermedades y se ilustran los síntomas, los actuales métodos de prevención y manejo de las principales enfermedades en estos cultivos causadas por hongos, bacterias, virus, nemátodos
y desórdenes causados por factores abióticos.
