dc.description.abstractEl propósito de esta investigación fue aislar, caracterizar y serotipificar cepa de Streptococcus suisde amígdalas y nariz de lechones entre 5 y 8 semanas de edad. Se procesaron 190 muestras, de las cuales 167 procedían de granjas porcinas de cría de tipo intensivo convencional, de Antioquia y Cundinamarca, con o sin historia de meningitis, y 23 cepas de diagnóstico presuntivo de Streptococcus suis pertenecientes a granjas porcinas venezolanas. Se aislaron 61 cepas procedentes de Antioquia y Cundinamarca Y 12 de Venezuela compatibles con S. suis.spa
