Abstract
Se produce este boletín con el propósito de que el campesino pueda porveerse de agua potable como factor primordial para su salud, mejoramiento y control sanitario de la finca. Las aguas naturales forman parte de un ciclo continuo. El agua que va a los océanos y a otras superficies es precipitada a su vez en forma de lluvia, nieve o granizo (ciclo hidrológico). Hay tres clases de fuentes de agua: Superficiales, subterráneas y atmosféricas. Las superficies están formadas por rios y quebradas, lagunas y lagos naturales, embalses, las fuentes subterraneas se localizan en una zona con cavidades conectadas entre si y son constituídas por el agua precipitada sobre la tierra como lluvia, granizo o nieve que se filtra a través del suelo. Aquí figuran los pozos que deben estar protegidos de contaminación. Los pozos escavados se deben revestir con ceniza de hormigón o camisa metálica de tubos de cemento o de gres, o de ladrillo. Manantiales son aguas subterráneas que afloran en la superficie. Para la desinfección de pozos, cisternas y manantiales se usan generalmente compuestos de Cl, el más usado es el hipoclorito de calcio o Perchloron con concentración de Cl del 70 por ciento. Las fuentes atmosféricas están constituidas por el agua de lluvia y la nieve. Se deben construir cisternas impermeables con superficies interiores lisas. Al igual que los pozos, las cisternas no deben ser accesibles a ninguna clase de insectos roedores o animales.
