Abstract
ColombiaisoneofthecountrieswiththehighestlivestockinventoryofLatinAmerica, muchofwhichisunderextensivegrazingofBrachiariaspp.,Megathyrsusmaximus andnativepastures. Thequantitative contributionof this sector toour national GreenhouseGases(GHGs)emissions,particularlynitrousoxide(N2O)emissions,need abetterapproachtoreal fluxes. SomeBrachiariaspeciesarenatural producersof BiologicalNitrificationInhibitors(BNI),whichareanalternativemitigationofGHGsin field.However, not all tropical grassesproducethesamequantityofBNI (1). The objectiveof this researchwas toquantifyN2Oemissions fromruminant urine in differentpasturesbothduringdryandrainyseasons.
