Abstract
This paper analyzes consumer preferences for beef in the main cities of the Caribbean Region of Colombia. The information was obtained through a structured survey applied, from a random sample selected by the simple random sampling method to 337 people responsible for purchases using the Forms office platform. The form was made up of socioeconomic variables such as age, gender, educational level, social stratum, number of family members, in addition to others related to purchase frequency and quantity, desirable characteristics for the consumer and consumption dynamics. As analysis tools, contingency tables, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and variance analysis were used. The results indicate that consumption is concentrated in the middle-income strata of the population and that as the consumer ages, consumption tends to decrease and that the average weekly consumption of each family is 2.87 kilos of meat. It was concluded that the middle stratum is the one that consumes the most.
