dc.description.abstract | Colombia es el tercer país del planeta en megadiversidad y sus colecciones biológicas son un patrimonio de gran importancia, no solo para la nación, sino para el mundo. La conservación de estos microorganismos y especímenes biológicos es vital para el país, en primer lugar, para proteger la diversidad biológica de los territorios y, en segundo lugar, porque estos son la base para el estudio y desarrollo de estrategias sostenibles y sustentables para la pro-ducción agrícola, pecuaria e industrial de la nación. Para el correcto mantenimiento y administración de las colecciones micro-bianas bajo la custodia de agrosavia, se ha requerido del estudio, la estanda-rización y el uso de diferentes técnicas de conservación que han permitido garantizar la viabilidad y pureza de los microorganismos en el tiempo, además de preservar sus características fisiológicas, bioquímicas y genéticas. En este capítulo se presentan las generalidades de los métodos de conservación mi-crobiana disponibles, incluyendo los crioprotectores más empleados para la conservación a corto, mediano y largo plazo.Adicionalmente, busca que los curadores o administradores de las colec-ciones biológicas conozcan un panorama general sobre la conservación y autentificación de cepas microbianas, con el fin de que dicha información permita mantener las características más relevantes y el potencial de los microorganismos conservados. También se mostrarán los procedimientos para realizar el control de calidad que ayuden a evidenciar la autenticidad microbiana mediante técnicas fenotípicas y moleculares. No obstante, en los siguientes capítulos se presentarán las particularidades de las colecciones que conforman el Banco de Germoplasma de Microorganismos de agrosavia, jun-to con las experiencias adquiridas en el transcurso de los años en cuanto a manejo, conservación y estudio de la identificación taxonómica y la caracte-rización de atributos de los microorganismos y especímenes biológicos con potencial biotecnológico. | spa |
