dc.description.abstractLas relaciones ecológicas que se establecen entre organismos son amplias y diversas. Estas interacciones pueden considerarse como un continuum, que va desde resultados benéficos hasta perjudiciales. El control biológico, definido como el uso consciente de organismos vivos para el control de plagas, es un recurso ecosistémico clave para la producción sostenible de cultivos, en el cual se aprovechan los enemigos naturales de estas para reducir sus daños. En este texto se hace referencia al impacto de los microorganismos patógenos de plantas y de los insectos plaga en los cultivos; se presentan los conceptos generales del biocontrol, las interacciones bióticas que involucran a las plagas y a los agentes de control biológico en los ecosistemas agrícolas, así como los principales retos para la implementación del biocontrol.spa
